Toasty Mitten Garland

I love garlands of all kinds, especially at the holidays.  Since I have lots of mitten ornaments, I decided to make a mitten garland for the Christmas tree using the Memory Box Toasty Mitten die.

I began by die cutting the Toasty Mitten die no. 98664, four each from Dill, White, and Red cardstocks.

I also die cut four each of the smallest of the Precious Snowflakes die no. 98729 and the smallest in the Poinsettia Bloom Trio die no. 98995 to decorate the mittens.  I went into the archives for the string of jingle bells which I die cut from a recycled gold foil envelope.  I added a few tiny pearls and some little bows on each one and punched two holes on each mitten cuff using my tiniest hole punch before stringing them on red and white bakers twine.

I thought the white mitten looked a little too empty, so I die cut more mittens from Cranberry Moroccan paper and trimmed off the cuff before gluing it on.  And the red mittens needed something else as well, so I stamped Fred P. Bear (also an oldie but goodie) in Wedding Dress ink and embossed him in white on them.

As I'm looking at them again, I'm thinking about adding white cuffs to the green mittens and a plaid cuff to the red ones.  And I may even make another string of these spaced further apart for displaying the cards I receive this year, using mini clothespins to clip the cards onto the garland and hanging it from the fireplace mantel.
