Bunny Links
by Jenny Griffiths

Hello Crafty Friends!

Keeping cool? or in some places warm?  Here in Southern California we're having a blistering heat wave which is especially dangerous and concerning during the current wild fire conditions. We're safe but our evacuation bins are packed and ready to go.

To take my mind off the heat, I created this cheery bunny card using the clever Square Links die and the adorable Birthday Bunnies stamp set (since today is my birthday–hee hee).

I die cut the links from white card stock, adhered it vertically to the base card and saved the two larger square cut outs to stamp the bunnies which I colored with Prisma pencils.  I left a few squares empty allowing the grey background paper to show through and used solid and patterned scrap papers to partially die cut the other square areas.   If you save left over scrap papers like I do, dig them out and use them here.

I also added the heart in the uppermost square cut from coral colored felt—it just added a little dimension and texture.  I made sure to repeat the coral color in one of the link squares too.  The dainty flowers in the center square are from the Summerville Landscape die—this is a great die to use even if you only need a couple of flowers as I did here.  After paper piecing the flower heads in different card stock colors I added a cupped sequin to the yellow flower which made it look like a daffodil.  I love adding different elements like felt and sequins to cards for a little added "oomph".  It also makes me feel like my out-of-control crazy stash of "stuff" is warranted–know the feeling?

I always try to remember that card making is doubly beneficial—it helps me by keeping my mind and hands occupied as I design and creating the cards, and it brings a smile to the person who receives it or sees it.  These bunnies are so adorable and charming, they're sure to brighten anyone's outlook–so, if you have a particularly challenging day, head into your crafting zone and create.  If you can't think of what to make or how to proceed just look for inspiration from other card makers (yoo hoo, over here!) to kick-start your "mojo".  The more you create, the more ideas and inspiration will flow.

Thinking of you,
