Holly Swirl Oval Frame and the Swift Reindeer
by Jean Okimoto

Create a classic holiday scene with the Swift Reindeer leaping over the Holly Swirl Oval Frame – easy to make and ideal for mass-production. Hello, Jean Okimoto here, with a few quick technique tips for my challenge inspiration card.

The delicate Holly Swirl Oval Frame is beautiful as is – but add another layer of dimension to highlight the details.  Diecut it from watercolor paper and leave it in the die.  Dry-emboss it using the embossing mat and plates required for your machine.

Don't remove it from the die just yet…stencil the leaves through the open areas of the die with Imagine Crafts Brilliance Pearlescent Lime and Pearlescent Thyme.  OK…now it's time to pop it out of the die!  Admire it for a second – then clean any residual ink from the die with a damp paper towel.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to dark kraft cardstock to add a layer of dimension.  Diecut Swift Reindeer - you don't need to cut the entire scarf from kraft cardstock - you'll be replacing it with velvet paper.  Mask the adjacent areas and sponge some Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate onto the deer's antlers, nose and hooves.

Cut two of the scarves from velvet paper and trim them.  Attach the shorter piece under the deer and the longer piece over his neck.

Cut red glittered craft foam with the circle pattern from the Distressed Baptisia Collage Set – leave it in the die.  Attach Scor-Tape behind the foam and diecut it again…you now have about 40 self-adhesive glitter dots!

Attach everything to a top-folded 5.5" square card of watercolor paper.  Square cards require extra postage…but I think (hope?) your recipients will love your card.

Looking for a unqiue gift idea for some very special people?  Join us for the WATERCOLOR CALENDAR class at Impress on Saturday September 10th.  We'll highlight the holidays and seasons of 2017 with stamps, diecuts, glitter, sequins, Imagine Crafts inks and Peerless Watercolors.  Each calendar kit includes a cool little metal stand to make it the perfect gift or personal  desk accessory.

Thanks for stopping by in the middle of your busy week – I appreciate it!
