Our September Release debuts today and I can't wait to share two new designs with you – Poinsettia Collage and Stitched Rectangle Trimmings! Hello, Jean Okimoto here, with the first of two new release holidays cards today. I loved Dave's original watercolored design so much that I tried to copy it, using Brilliance inks as an alternative. This isn't the actual blog blitz – that begins next week – it's just a little preview of the beautiful collection that Dave's created for Christmas 2016.
The classic Poinsettia Collage joins our collection of versatile designs for watercoloring, color-blending, stenciling and dry-embossing. Today's card combines two of my favorite techniques – dry embossing and color-blending with Imagine Crafts Brilliance inks.
Cut watercolor paper or white cardstock with the largest Stitched Rectangle Trimming die. The 8 dies in the set are perfectly proportioned for A-2 cards. Each die cuts a delicate stitched "frame" – and a plain inner rectangle. I saved the frame for another card.
Dry-emboss the rectangle with Poinsettia Collage using the embossing mat and plates required for your machine. Here's what I used with my Grand Calibur – base plate, die, cardstock, rubber embossing mat, embossing plate. Sponge Pearlescent Yellow onto the centers. Blend Rocket Red out towards the leaves. Blend Pearlescent Thyme onto the leaves.
Air-dry the inks while you diecut another large Stitched Rectangle Trimming from watercolor paper. Diecut the rectangle with Poinsettia Collage and layer it over the inked design.
Attach the collage to an A-2 card of watercolor paper. Add tiny clear sequins. Hope you like this very first card from the latest collection!

Love the collage dies and this is beautiful too and love how you used inks as an alternative to watercolours. Looking forward to release though not sure how long they will take to get to the UK as many suppliers are waiting for a better exchange rate before they refill stocks.
