Plush Little Penguin Ornament Card

A Plush Little Penguin ornament would look quite sweet on a tree or a wreath – but Christmas is just 11 days away and we need a few shortcuts to get him ready!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with the express version of this plush little guy.  But first – a disclaimer that I'm definitely (and obviously) not a seamstress – so if I can do this, you can too!

Here's what Plush Little Penguin should like when properly sewn…

Here are my shortcuts for today's quick-chick:

    – Stitch with black floss (instead of using white floss and Fiberfill) to add some dimension  

    – Stitch all the way around the two white layers – then glue the black top over it

    –   If any white felt shows through the holes,  brush the felt with a stylus and the holes will be less visible          

    – Trim the holes from the bottom of the scarf, then just overlap and glue the ends together

     - Attach Scor-Tape behind black and yellow-orange felt and cut the eyes and beak

    – Glue the arms and feet behind him

 

Now my favorite trick to hide the knot and ends of the hanging cord, the floss knots and the backs of the arms and feet – attach Scor-Tape to a scrap of felt and diecut a self-adhesive penguin coverup.  Attach it behind him and the unsightlies will be hidden.  Forever.

Cut Dancing Snowflake Oval from textured white cardstock – leave it in the die.  Dry-emboss it using the embossing mat and plates required for your machine – leave it in the die again.  Daub Imagine Crafts Wedding Dress Memento Luxe through the open areas.  (OK – now remove it from the die!)  Heat-emboss it with Imagine Crafts Iridescent Embossing Powder for extra sparkle.  Clean the die with a damp cloth to remove the residual ink.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to yellow/orange felt and cut it with Honeycomb Remnant.  You can also cut it with the Honeycomb Background I've used many times before – but I just needed a few accents so I used the smaller die.

Attach everything top a top-folded card of white cardstock – attach the penguin with removable gluedots.  Additional postage will probably be required because of the card's thickness.  Be sure to send it to someone who'll realize it's a hanging ornament!
