My dad is celebrating his 94th birthday this week, so he needs a special card. Since he is quite a creative guy who spends a lot of time in his workshop–he makes dustpans from old license plates, for example–Memory Box has the perfect carpenter tools and workshop dies!
I started this card by doing some die cutting first. I used more of the metallic gold paper from my stash to cut the CARPENTER TOOLS 99396, the WORKSHOP FRAME 99704, and the WORKSHOP BORDER 99699.
I also used the STUDIO SQUARE LAYERS 30021 to cut a square from some woodgrain-printed paper about the same size as the Workshop Frame. These I layered together on the front of a black top-fold notecard made from cardstock, 5.50" X 4.25"–standard A2 size. And I glued on the Carpenter Tools, a saw and a hammer.
I I knew I needed to add something more to the card front, so I used two of the smaller squares from the Studio Square Layers to make a frame to fit inside the Workshop Frame. Then I cut the HAPPY BIRTHDAY UPRIGHT SCRIPT 99684 three times. It took two of those using the letters d, a, and d to spell "dad" which I placed inside the gold frame inside the Workshop Frame.
Not finished yet…I still had the Workshop Border and another Happy Birthday. Here's what I did on the inside:
I had a little red heart left from one of the valentine dies to dot the "i" and a gold Uni-ball Gel Impact gold pen for the writing. I'm sure that Dad will be pleased.
These dies–Craftsman Tools, Workshop Frame, and Workshop Border–are perfect for those hard-to-design guy cards. Cut from metallic paper, they are stunning.
