Golden Dragonflies

Greetings friends.  Today I wanted to share with you a card I made using some Fine Tec gold paints from Birch Press Design, black cardstock, and the new Dragonfly Stems Left Corner die.

To make the card, I started with a center panel of black cardstock and painted stripes with various colors of the Fine Tec gold paints.  I overlapped the colors and purposely left it a bit streaking for two reasons.  First, it was regular cardstock, so I didn't want to over-saturate the paper and have it warp. Second, I liked the effect of having some of the black show through.  Here is a close up of the paints and how shiny they are:

For the second black panel, I used an old paintbrush and flicked gold paint onto the paper to get a speckled look.  Hint for this technique…use and old stiff brush for this.  The softer the bristles are, the harder it is to get the paint to splatter.

To finish the card, I added the dragonflies cut from more black cardstock and added a layer of gold cardstock to really get the metallic paints to pop.

    Hope these paints make it to the UK. I’m not normally a fan of gold, but these tones are just perfect… especially the way you’ve used them.
