Today’s cards feature die cut dragonflies on pre-scored Inner Stair Step Cards, cards we’ll be making at the local senior center this week. I found several packages of these cards in my stash, but there are tutorials online for making stair step cards using an A2 notecard, a craft knife, and a scoring tool to cut and score the center panel.
I precut all of the dies from Memory Box Bluebird Gingham patterned paper. I used these dies:
- TALL UMBELS LEFT CORNER 99673
- TALL CATTAILS 99455
- DRAGONFLY STEMS LEFT CORNER 99659
- DRAGONFLY STEMS RIGHT CORNER 99710
- DAZZLING DRAGONFLY 99668
I used a glue pen to secure the pieces to the card, laying it out kind of flat, being careful to keep the glue away from the fold lines on the steps.
Here’s another one, this time using Memory Box Bubblegum Dots patterned paper, placing the die cuts in different spots.
And a third card where I used plain white cardstock and no cattails. I also used a foam dot to pop up the dragonfly.
These cards do fold flat to put in an envelope for mailing. Because some of the pieces stick up above the folded card, I will use a larger envelope than the typical A2 size (and probably extra postage). I can also add a sentiment easily on the front center panel. Another idea for this month’s Insects/Butterflies/Dragonflies Challenge!

Hi, Diane. I, too, love cards that have unusual folds or shapes. I chose dragonflies as a theme for these because of the challenge this month, but also because dragonflies are a favorite of one of my seniors in this week’s class. Thanks for your comment! Anne
