Here's another watercolor background technique that I've paired with the MEADOWTREE FRAME 94045.
I also used a leftover background scrap for the PEACE CHESHIRE SCRIPT 94017.
The spattering and drops in the background are created by adding rubbing alcohol on top of the wet watercolor. After painting the paper with blue watercolor, I just poured some rubbing alcohol into the bottle lid and used the pointy end of my paintbrush to dip in and touch the watercolor to make the larger splotches/circles. The darker spots were made by dipping the pointy end again into the rubbing alcohol and tapping the brush handle over the watercolored paper.
While I had the die out I cut more of the Meadowtree Frame from white cardstock, and I made two more cards.
This first one has an embossed dots background for the sky.
The second one uses Memory Box Bluebird Distressed Dots paper for the card front with the die layered on top and "peace" cut from the same dot paper. You'll notice that I left out the plain center frame piece.

watercolor” do you blot the solution with a paper towel or let it dry on its own?
Hi, Cynthia. Good question! When you use the rubbing alcohol, you let it dry on its own.
the blots get whiter as they dry. You can also use other objects to dip in the rubbing alcohol. A straw, for example, will give you nice rings of white on the paper. Experiment! Anne
