Merry & Bright
by Donna Sledzik

Hello everyone,

I couldn’t let the month go by without creating a “Christmas in July” card.

I also wanted to show you how versatile your dies can be.  I used the Birds and Blossoms craft die to create my Christmas Card.  All I did was cut off the flowers from the die cut then added Red Nuvo drops for berries in their place.

I die cut the Birds and Blossoms from watercolor paper.  I lightly traced the circle opening on my white cardbase and sponged it with Broken China Distress ink.  I spattered it with clean water and used a paper towel to pick up the water.  This left my background looking like it had snowed.  I used foam tape and adhered my card front to my cardbase.

I die cut the pine branches and the holiday lamp post from white cardstock.  I used only the circle with the tree branches and cut away the lamp post.

All the die cuts were painted with Distress Inks.  I also painted a red strip of paper that I used to white heat emboss my sentiment.

To assemble the card, I glued the Birds and Blossom into the circle.  Next I glued the pine tree circle on top of that.  The birds were adhered to the card using foam tape.  I spattered the circle area with white acrylic paint and then added my red Nuvo drops.

I used foam tape to adhere my sentiment strip.

To finish the card, I glued the pine branches to the top left side of the card front and added a red button in the center of the branches.

I hope this inspires you get a jump start on your Christmas cards!

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Great card! clever to make berries instead of flowers! A delight to see snow in the middle of this heat wave, too!
