Hello everyone! Since next week brings us Father’s Day, I thought it would be a good time to do a masculine card. I love the Wood Grain Plank die and figured it went well with the Toolshed 3D embossing folder.
I started by die cutting the wood planks twice from white cardstock. Next, I glued them onto another piece of cardstock to create my background.
Once the glue was dry I used distress inks to add color to the wood grain background. I added the inks to my craft mat and sprayed them with plain water. Then I dragged my paper through the inks.
Next, I took a piece of red foil cardstock and embossed it using the Toolshed 3D Embossing Folder. I used a sanding block to lightly sand the top layer of the paper to highlight the embossed images. I sponged Walnut Distress Ink over the embossed paper to give it a distressed look.
I cut the embossed paper at an angle and mounted it on a piece of black cardstock. Next, I glued that to my wood grain background and adhered it to a black cardstock mat and mounted it to a white card base.
I die cut the word Dad and the gears from black cardstock and glued them to the card.
To finish the card I stamped “thank you” on a strip of white cardstock and adhered that to the card front.
