Serene Bird and Holiday Evergreens by Jean Okimoto

Red felt and Polished Foil add warmth and shine to a Serene Bird perched on mixed evergreens. Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a very traditional design from our 2021 Holiday Collection.

Cut the olive green Woodsy Plaid 6×6 with the House Frame Background.  Cut the entrance with the circle die – don’t remove the outer ring – attach it as a base behind solid ring for dimension.  Cut the dark olive-brown 6×6 from the Earth Neutral Collection with the ring. Cut the House Frame – just down to the first scored section at the bottom – with the same 6×6.

Assemble the house and tie it with gold cord.  Curl the cord with the edge of a bonefolder or the plastic flower burnishing tool – follow the curve of the cord for loose, loopy curls.

Attach adhesive label paper – or a sticker sheet – to red felt and a small section of the red Polished Foil 6×6 sheet.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and adds dimension to the felt and foil sheet.  Cut the beak from an orange sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Define the eye with a skewer or toothpick, then attach a scrap of black cardstock behind it.

Cut the leafy branch from the Serene Bird set twice from a lime green 6×6 in the Lush Green Collection.  Cut Pine Needle Trio from a blue-green sheet.

Attach the diecuts to a natural A6 card (4-½” x 6-¼”) – use foamdots for the bird.  Don’t worry…the bird sits on the soft leafy branches – not the pokey pines!  Add bright red Christmas Fairy Jewels.

We’ll start sharing Valentine designs soon.  Here’s an early idea – diecut a heart-shaped entrance to the house and switch to a new color scheme and 3 Serene Bird branches instead of pines. You’ll be ready for February 14th!

Thanks for visiting…see you again this weekend!
