Fall Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  There are several fall birthdays in my family, so I have been busy creating birthday cards with the new Winter Days release dies.  This one features the Snowy Log die with moss instead of snow.  These dies are versatile to take you from fall to winter.

To create the fall look and feel I only used 4 base colors on all the die cuts in Distress Ink colors of Dried Marigold, Seedless Preserves, Vintage Photo and Scorched Timber.

Focal images: Die cut all the images from heavy white card stock. The dies used is Snowy Log, Mysterious Mushrooms, Eucalyptus Bouquet, Brilliant Berries, and Huddled Sparrow.  Ink blend with the Distress inks listed above.  Adhere together using the envelopes as guides.  For the mushrooms, leaves, and bird, coat with Distress Matte Medium and let dry.  For the mushrooms use a white paint pen to add in the dots.  Add Glossy Accents to the berries and the tops of the mushrooms.

For the die cut that creates the snow for Snowy Log I adhered Flower Soft in moss green.  This is no longer available, but you can also use pollen used for paper flower making in dark green.  If you don’t have either just ink blending with Distress Crushed Olive, then Forest Moss.  This would also give the look of moss.

Assembly:

Trim down the dark green pattern paper from the Nutmeg Forest pack to A2.  Ink Blend the edges with Distress Scorch Timber.  Adhere the Eucalyptus Bouquet to the bottom of the card.  Adhere the Snow Log with adhesive in the center so the berries can smaller Eucalyptus branches can be tucked behind the log.  Adhere 1 mushroom to the inside of the log and the 2 smallest to the top left side of the log.  Adhere the Huddled Sparrow to the top of the log.  Adhere Happy Birthday Foil Greeting Black Tab to the upper center of the card.
