Blue River Butterfly Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a spray stain background card featuring the new Blue River Butterfly die.  These new butterfly dies have dies to add depth and a spot of color to the tips of the wings.  It just makes the butterflies standout.

Background:

Spray on heavy mixed media card stock Distress Sprays in Aged Mahogany, Kitsch Flamingo, Scattered Straw, and Lost Shadow along with Distress Mica Stain in Harvest Moon and Oxide Spray in Victorian Velvet.  Add in layers, drying in-between. Spray water droplets and dry with a cloth.  Let dry.  Die but using the largest die from Wrapped Stitched Rectangles.  Add Distress Translucent Crackle Paint using the Butterfly Colerie Collage Stencil. Let air dry.

Butterfly:

Die cut the Blue River Butterfly wings from white card stock, the body from black card stock and the tips from folder from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  Ink blend the wings using Distress Oxide Aged Mahogany, Kitsch Flamingo, and Scattered Straw.  Adhere the pieces together using the envelope as a guide.  Brush on glitter using a glitter pen.  Let dry.

Assembly:

Adhere the background to  A2 size folding cream note card.  Adhere the butterfly with foam tape to center and the Happy Birthday Foil Greeting Black tab to the center of the butterfly.
