Same Details Different Card
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Today I want to talk about using the same dies to get different looks. On Saturday, I posted a card that looked like this:

Both cards feature the Ollie Bird die and the flowers from the Flower Basket Bouquet die set. I am a big proponent of cutting and preparing multiple die cuts at a time while you have your die cutting machine out as well as the supplies to do some ink blending and gluing of die pieces. Why not put in a little extra effort now to either make more than one of the same card design or put the pieces aside to make a completely different card?

For my card today, I used the same sunflowers that I used on Saturday’s card. I cut out the petals with yellow cardstock and then edged the pieces with orange and yellow Distress Inks.

For the Ollie bird on today’s card, I left off his hat and scarf and instead added a flower to their “hair.” Same bird die. Very different looks.

Today’s card also uses the basket that comes in the Flower Basket Bouquet set. I had left it off of Saturday’s card. It was cut out of kraft cardstock and edged with brown Distress ink.

I needed a different background for today’s card, so I used the Pinpoint Flower Plate die to add texture instead of the patterned paper I used on Saturday. I decided to leave off a sentiment because I don’t know yet what occasion I will use the card for, but I will add a Memory Box tab to the basket to make it a birthday or thinking of you card when the time comes. I might also leave it blank for an all occasion card.

Here is a close up of the Ollie bird die:

Two cards. Very different looks.

Do you do the same thing? Do you die cut extra pieces when you are making a card?
