Create a Glassy Frosted Lantern by Jean Okimoto

1

Send joyful greetings and add clear, glassy highlights to the new Frosted Lantern.  It’s diecut twice, then reassembled for the realistic look of a garden ornament on a winter night.  Hi, Jean here sharing holiday slimline design from our 2024 Yuletide Collection.

We’re using all 4 of the 6×6 solid-core color collections here.  From the top – Sunrise, Greenery, Blush and Lagoon – perfect for diecutting, backgrounds and custom-colored card fronts and frames.

Cut the candle – from the new Frosted Lantern set – from a bright red Blush 6×6 sheet and white cardstock.  Remove the red wick and flame.  Color the white flame with a yellow marker, then trim the sides and bottom of the candle to fit behind the red (flameless) candle.  Place it on a piece of the pale yellow 6×6 in the Sunrise Collection.  Cover the candle and yellow cardstock with packing tape – press the center first, then press out to the edges, eliminating any air bubbles and laminating the candle onto the yellow background.  Cut it with the large bottom section of the Frosted Lantern.

Cut the entire lantern from a dark teal 6×6 from the Lagoon Collection.  Assemble the lantern and insert the laminated pieces to add a warm glowing background.  Cut the snowy layers from a white Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad 6×6.

Cut the solid Bello Joy background from the dark teal Lagoon 6×6.  Add an extra layer of dimension to the greeting by pressure-embossing the teal background with the detailed overlay die. Spritz both sides of the teal background with a light mist of water then emboss it using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.

We’re using the 1-⅜”, ⅞” and ⅝” wide Slim Basic Rectangle Layers dies to cut the accent strips.  Cut the strips from a dark green 6×6 in the Greenery Collection, the red Blush Collection 6×6 and the floral print from the new Yuletide Cheer 6×6 pack.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card ((3-⅝” x 8-½”).  Add clear Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for visiting our blog – sorry it took so long for the pictures to be loaded, and not distorted.  Have a great holiday weekend!
