Peony Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a series of cards for my next few card post where I focus on making backgrounds that can be used with the large elegant dies from the Peony release. This one uses the butterfly stamp in the Hello Butterfly Stamp set.

Background:

Randomly stamp and heat emboss using Distress Antique Linen embossing powder on watercolor card stock.  Randomly add yellow, green and blue to the background heavily saturated with water and let the colors flow together.  Heat dry.  Trim to 4″ x 5 1/4″.

Focal Image:

Die cut the Graceful Peony Blossom from white card stock.  Ink blend with Distress Oxide mainly with Squeezed Lemonade and then for the darker areas use Scattered Straw.  Slightly form the petals with your fingers and use foam tape behind some of the petals to add dimension. Adhere together using the envelope as a guide.

Assembly:

Adhere the background to a white side folding A2 size card. Adhere the focal image to the center and a Happy Birthday Foil Greeting black tab to the bottom of the flower.
