A Card for the Winter Outdoorsy Person
by Anne Thompson

For today's card I decided to make the Winter Boot 94931 and then figure out what to do with it.  To make it a bit more of a holiday boot, I added the tiny poinsettia to the boot cuff using the two smallest blossoms from Blooming Poinsettias 94937.  The trees from Tall Evergreen Trees 94939 make the perfect background against the dark blue sweater paper from the Yuletide Cheer paper pad PP1032.  So it all came together pretty easily for not really having a plan when I started!

materials used

  • white A2 note card
  • light blue card stock from LAGOON SP1010
  • sweater paper from YULETIDE CHEER PP1032
  • WINTER BOOT 94931
  • BLOOMING POINSETTIAS 94937
  • TALL EVERGREEN TREES 94939
  • VersaFine Clair inks:  Acorn, Pine Cone, Charming Pink, Tulip Red, and Shady Lane (green)
  • tiny yellow Fairy Jewel, watercolor paper, glue pen, glue dots, dimensional foam dots, tape runner

to make this card

  • cut a piece of light blue card stock from Lagoon 5 1/4 X 4 and add to the front of the note card
  • cut the sweater paper from Yuletide Cheer 5 X 3 3/4 and add to the front of the note card
  • die cut the Winter Boot from watercolor paper; color with the two brown inks using fingertip daubers; assemble using a glue pen
  • die cut the Blooming Poinsettias from watercolor paper; select the two smallest; color with the pink and red inks using fingertip daubers; assemble and add a tiny yellow Fairy Jewel in the center; use a glue dot to attach it to the boot cuff
  • die cut the evergreen trees from watercolor paper and color them using the green ink and a fingertip dauber; glue them onto the sweater paper to create a forest background
  • use dimensional foam dots to add the boot to the lower right corner of the note card

There's plenty of room on the front of this card to add any one of the sentiment strips or circle tabs depending on the occasion when I will send the card.  I love that this could easily be sent to a guy–you might leave off the poinsettia–and also without the poinsettia, this card could be used any time during the year for a favorite outdoorsy person.  Think I'll make a pair of boots next–I love the way this first boot came together.

Happy Crafting!
