It’s that time of year when you live in a house with a wood stove that you make sure you have enough dry wood for the winter. Maybe it’s neatly stacked on the porch or in the wood shed or in the basement. And it’s also the time of year when you’ve started cutting trees for next year’s wood and putting the logs near the wood splitter to dry. Mixed hard woods–ash, oak, and maple–are the best here in the northeast. Today’s card is an homage to that winter wood.
I used several pieces of scrap brown card stock as well as a larger piece of green and a plaid from NUTMEG PLAID PP1033. I used these dies: GATHERED EVERGREENS 94975; GATHERED TREE TRUNKS 94976; TREE STUMP 94970; and HAPPY FALL STYLISH SCRIPT 94985.
To make this card I started with a horizontal A2 card orienting it with the fold at the top. I added a piece of Nutmeg Plaid paper cut 4 X 5 1/4. Next I die cut everything from the green and browns card stock. I glued on the Gathered Evergreens first to form an arch. Next I layered on the Gathered Tree Trunks. I placed the Tree Stump in the center near the bases of the trees using dimensional foam dots, I used more dimensional dots to place the Happy Fall sentiment near the top of the arch.
For me, this is the perfect card to send to someone with a wood stove with best wishes for winter warmth. The nights are certainly cooler now; and on a damp rainy day, it might be the right time to light up that wood stove to take the chill off a bit.
