Blog Blitz Begins Today

Greetings friends.  Memory Box has a lot of newly released products and we will be focusing on them this week starting today (Monday, February 17th) and going through Sunday (February 23rd).  Every designer this week will also be offering one of the new products as a prize.  All you have to do is leave comments for a chance to win.

I really wanted to focus on glitter today.  Specifically, I want to talk about the new glitter papers and glitter glue as well as a technique I like to do with glitter glue and acetate.

Memory Box has two new glitter 6″ x 6″ paper packs.  One of them is called Delicate Pastel and the other is Twinkling Jewel.  Both paper packs include 24 heavy weight sheets (12 colors per pack/2 sheets per color).  The best part?  The glitter does NOT come off onto your fingers!  Your card recipients will not be covered in sparkle.

Another thing I like about the paper?  The glitter glues look fantastic when paired with the papers.  Look how closely these colors match.  You could add a layer of glitter paper to your card and then coordinate it with a glitter glue:

For my card today, I used some patterned paper for the background and a piece of glitter paper behind the egg opening.  It is hard to tell from the picture, but there is a piece of acetate behind the egg opening for extra support and the white die cut is popped up on top of the glitter paper with foam tape.

To make the eggs, I wanted to use one of my favorite acetate/glitter glue techniques.  I love the look of acetate, but it is often difficult to figure out how to adhere it to a card so that the adhesive doesn’t show.  In this case, I used the glitter glue as the adhesive, so you are meant to see the glue.

I cut out eggs with white cardstock and acetate.

I then added a blob of glue to the center of the white cardstock and then stuck the acetate on top.  Notice that I didn’t bother spreading out the glue.  I just let the acetate spread out the glue when I place it on top.  It will take a bit of time for it to dry before you can adhere the eggs to the card.  I love using this technique to make shiny butterfly or dragonfly wings.  You could use colored cardstock instead of the white, but I let the colored glitter glue do all of the work and I ended up with specked shiny eggs.

Want to win the new Bunny Egg Collage die?  Leave a comment to this post before 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, February 23rd.  One comment will be chosen at random to win the die.  Winners will be announced on the blog on Monday, February 24th at 6pm EST.  Good luck!

  3. I really like the new products that have been released and the terrific ideas the designers publish.. Since I don’t live near any of the stamping supply stores you list as distributors, I’d love to know which mail order companies carry the papers, newest dies and stamps. Seems like the places I usually order from always have to back order and a month+ is not an unusual wait time. Oftentimes I order something seasonal and the item arrives too late to use as I’d intended. So frustrating to see these nice products and not be able to get my hands on them!
