New Release- Graphic Butterlies
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Memory Box has a new “Peony” release of goodies. The ironic part is that my first card doesn’t have any peonies on it, even though they are my favorite flower. I just couldn’t pass up the chance to work with the new butterfly from the “Hello Butterfly” clear stamp set.

I like this butterfly image a lot because it is a great size and has bold lines to it. I look forward to coloring with it using Copic markers or watercolor, but I wanted to see what it would look like paired with Memory Box cardstock.

To make the card, I stamped my butterfly onto Leaf Sprout, Deep Turquoise and Summer Squash cardstock using black Versafine ink. I like how well Versafine ink stamps, but it does take a bit of time to dry. After the ink dried, I cut out the butterflies using the coordinating die. I held the die onto the stamped image using washi tape and then ran it through my die cut machine. I wanted to make sure that nothing shifted during the cutting. Here is a close up of the card:

I wanted the butterflies to have a hint of color, so I added a bit of Copic marker to some of the butterfly sections. I chose markers that were slightly lighter than my cardstock. They appeared darker than the cardstock once I colored over the paper. For the green I used YG11, for the yellow I used Y23, and for the blue I used BG13.

I layered everything onto kraft cardstock and added a layer of Memory Box Raspberry Sorbet paper. Of course, I also had to add a sentiment from the same stamp set as the butterfly.

As a side note, to attach the butterflies, I glued just the center of the butterflies to the kraft cardstock and placed some foam tape under the wings to make them pop up off of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you like all of the new release!
