Paper-Pieced Blue River Butterfly
by Jean Okimoto

The bold dimensions of the Blue River Butterfly highlight a paper-pieced design – and the Anemone Grove 6×6 prints has the perfect colors and patterns for a summer butterfly.  Hi, Jean here with a collage-y mix of prints, blues, teals and gold.  And a bit of inspiration for June’s Sympathy Card Challenge.

Cut 5/8″ x 4-1/2″ strips of prints from the Anemone Grove 6×6 set – you’ll need 2 from the sheet with tiny gold + pale aqua flowers on one side and large pale blue flowers + a turquoise background on the reverse side.

Attach the strips to a piece of adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet).  Cut Blue River Butterfly from printer paper. Use the offcut  as a template to find the perfect area to diecut your butterfly.  Place the die in the template and cut the butterfly.

Cut the butterfly’s center and wing accents from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6×6.

Cut white cardstock with the 1.75″ and 2.25″ wide Rectangle Basics dies.  Attach just the centers of the rectangles so the edges lift slightly for dimension.  Attach the butterfly.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded white A2 card – use foam dots for the top of the wings.

Stamp the greeting – from the With Sympathy Clear Stamps Set – with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair.

Add turquoise Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Memory Box 6×6 sets feature a great mix of colors, gold details, prints and patterns to mix and match for colorful summer designs.  Add sparkly, shimmery accents with our glitter pads, mirror cardstock, gems, dewdrops and jewels.

Thanks for visiting  our blog…have a great weekend!
