Birthday Blossoms and Buds
by Jean Okimoto

Trim the Garden Pail Bouquet’s diecut and create a rustic woodgrain planter for summer bloomers or herbs.  Hi, Jean here with another way to alter this versatile design for more mileage from your Memory Box dies.

Here’s a summer card trio featuring the Garden Pail Bouquet set.  The original tall garden pail design is in the center.  Trim it a bit  – and it’s a flower pot, on the left.  Trim it a lot – and it’s today’s planter.

Cut the pail from a dark green Greenery 6×6.  Trim it to about 1-1/4″ at the center using the top edge of the die.  Cut the trim strips too.

Spritz both sides of the trimmed pail with a light mist of water.  Place it in the lower right corner of the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder and pressure-emboss it using the plate(s) required for your diecut machine.  Attach the strips – trim one end of the top strip.

Cut the buds and blossoms from two shades of the Blush 6×6 set – and a dark coral from the Sunset 6×6 set.  Cut the foliage from different shades of the Greenery 6×6 set – cut 2 sets of the stems.  I think it’s just easier to cut the extras and stash them for future projects.

Cut two sets of the centers from the Black Glossy Paper (cardstock).  Assemble the blossoms.

Cut white cardstock with the 2-7/8″ with Heritage Rectangle Frames die.  Attach it to a white A6 card (4-1/2″ x 6-1/4″).  Lay the planter on the rectangle (no adhesive!) and  pencil a line along the rim to mark the placement of the leaves and stems.  Remove the planter.  Attach the stems, leaves, blossoms and buds.  Attach the planter with foam tape.

Attach the single stem near the bottom right corner.  Add a Happy Birthday Foil Greetings Black Circle Tab and a bud.

Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

It’s the perfect die set for fall and winter cards too – filled with autumn leaves, pumpkins, treats, pine cones, holly or evergreens.  Add a big pile of hearts in February!

Thanks for visiting – see you on Friday…
