Fall Floral Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  Anyone else ready for fall?  I sure am.  I love making fall time cards.  I have a card design using orange, brown, and yellowish green colors to create a fall floral mixed media card.  You can use this same layout and change the colors to create a brighter version as well.

Background:

Use a A2 size mixed media card stock and spray with Distress Spray Stains in Old Paper, Antique Linen, and Hickory Smoke.  Spray with a little water and tilt the paper to run the inks together. Heat set.  Next stamp the stars from the Magical Halloween clear stamp set in black StazOn ink.  Use the first 2nd and 3rd generation ink while turning the stamp in different directions.  Do the same thing but with random sentiments from the Sunshine and Wildflowers stamp set.  Heat set.  Use the Birch Press Design Honeycomb Stencil and randomly add some Distress Crackle Past .Opaque with a pallet knife.  Let air dry.  Apply some Distress Crayon in Rusty Hinge with a awaterbrush on tope of the dried cradle paste.  Ink blend the edges and about 1/2 of the way in with Distress Ground Espresso ink.  Take StazOn Spiced Chai ink and rub in around the edge of the card at an angle to get some edge on the front to create a dark boarder.

Focal Image:

Die cut the following out of heavy white card stock, Regal Bird, and Woodland Branch.  Ink blend the bird using Distress ink Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain, Ground Espresso, Scotched Timber and Black soot.  Ink blend the branch with Scorched Timber. Die cut the leaves from Gentle Peony Bloom out of the lightest yellow paper from the Sunshine pad. Ink blend the leaves using Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, and Scorched Timber.  Die cut the Blushing Bloom, Delicate Bloom, and Small Anemone Bud Duo from a light orange from the Sunshine paper pad.  Ink blend the stems the same as the leaves.  The flowers are ink blended with Rusty Hinge, Barn Door and Walnut Stain.  I spent about 3 hours ink blending each die cut using small and tiny blending brushes to get all the details just right.  I did have to recut some of the dies and redo the ink to get them just right.  I feel it was worth the extra time but it is up to you how much details you want to add.

Assembly:

Adhere the background to an A2 size side folding white card.  I arranged the die cuts towards the right center and adhere them down with liquid glue.  I left off a sentiment as I feel it didn’t need one and I would stamp a sentiment on the inside when I use it. Adding a Happy Fall, Halloween or even birthday die cut or stamp on a strip would work as well.
