Heartfelt Hugs
by Jean Okimoto

A plush felt Bundled Penguin from our holiday release delivers Valentine messages too! Add new accessories and heart balloons to an easel card created from an Oval Eyelet Rectangle Frame and you’re ready for the next holiday.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to wool-blend white felt to stabilize it and prevent adhesives from saturating it. Cut the main section of Bundled Penguin. Cut the outer sections from black cardstock. Cut the feet and beak layer from orange cardstock in the Sunrise 6×6 pack. Color the eye areas with a black marker. Assemble the penguin.

Cut the scarf from the gold heart print from the Poppystamps Birthday Fun 6×6 – cut the pieces separately so the hearts run vertically and horizontally. Cut the beanie from the reverse side of the 6×6. Trim the tip, add the pompom and the scalloped band.

Cut two hearts from the orangey-red Sunrise 6×6. Here’s a tip…tie loose double-knots on one end of the gold twine for more surface area to adhere to the back of the heart.

Prep the 1-7/8″ wide Oval Eyelet Rectangle Frame by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to make it easy to remove the tiny oval offcuts. Cut the light teal Lagoon 6×6. Cut the solid Hugs Debut Script from the same teal 6×6. Spritz both sides with a light mist of water and pressure-emboss it with the detailed overlay using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine. Embossing makes it very easy to attach the top layer and adds extra dimension.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded white A2 card – use foam tape for the balloons and Bundled Penguin.

Prep the largest Oval Eyelet Rectangle Frame with scrunched waxed paper too. Cut it from white cardstock. Score and crease it at 3/4″ and 3″ from one short end. Attach the 3″ section behind the card – place the doublestick tape just along the sides and top of the frame, not along the 3″ scoreline.

Fold the front border inside the card. Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Create similar easel cards with any of our frame designs – they make great calendar cards too.
