Birthday Balloons
by Karen Walker

My stash of birthday cards is seriously depleted so I set out to make two Birthday Balloon cards—one with a more feminine feel and one more masculine.

I started die cutting many balloons from the Wavy Balloon die in colored cardstock from the Lagoon, Greenery, and Sunrise Paper Packs. Once they were done I set out to create the backgrounds.

For the first card, I die cut a panel with the Pinpoint Flower Plate and trimmed it down to 3 3/4 X 5 inches. I adhered it to a white card base. I chose balloon from just the Lagoon Paper pack and arranged them on the panel, adding some dimensional tape behind two o the balloons. A thin black cord was used for the balloon strings.

I wrapped a piece of cord around the strings and added one of the White Greeting Tags: Happy Birthday for the sentiment. Finally, I added two flowers I had previously made with the Woven Flower Basket die, and a bow from the Gifts Galore die set.

I already had a panel cut with silver metallic paper with the Heritage Rectangle Frames and thought it would be a festive background for a more masculine card. I arranged some brightly colored balloons on the panel after adding some narrow black strings I cut with my paper cutter.

The sentiment from the Birthday Greetings stamp set was stamped in black on a scrap of white paper, and I fussy cut around it. I added it to the card with some dimensional tape. Finally, I added the panel to a black card base.

We’re so happy you stopped by! Have a great day!
