Birthday Gifts Galore
by Jean Okimoto

Today’s card is inspired by flower-filled umbrellas on great cards by Design Teammates Sara Cook and Donna Sledzik. I liked their ideas so much I copied them – filled an umbrella with Gifts Galore. A birthday banner was quick and easy – with the new Birthday Party Foil Greeting Tags.

Cut an assortment of giftboxes, ribbons and bows from the Gifts Galore set. The solid colors are from the Sunrise, Blush and Lagoon Solid Core Cardstock Packs. The prints are from the Poppystamps Birthday Fun 6×6 Pack.

Attach packing/shipping tape – or a piece of laminate – to the teal Lagoon 6×6. Cut the smaller Umbrella Trio section. Laminating gives it glossy shine. Cut the larger umbrella section from the teal 6×6. It’s not visible on the card – but it guides the placement of the gifts.

Cut 2 of the left-facing umbrella handles from the silver Rainbow Reflection Mirror Pad 6×6. Create a longer handle – more visible among the gifts – by extending the length where it’ll be hidden by the gifts.

Cut the pale yellow Sunrise Solid Core Cardstock with the 2.75″ wide Heritage Rectangle Frame. Attach it to a white top-folded A2 card and add the umbrella and gifts.

Tie a double knot on gold cord and add three Birthday Party Foil Greeting Tags. Form loopy curves between the tags. Knot the other end of the cord. Attach the banner to the card with foam tape. Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

The umbrella/gifts/tags combination is great for shower cards too – the Birthday Party Foil Greeting Tags include several designs perfect for any occasion.

Thanks for visiting our blog – and thanks for the inpsiration Donna and Sara!
