I’ve still been playing with the PLAYFUL POPPIES stamp CL5281 since last week’s post. While I was looking for something interesting for a background, I found a pile of slotted cardboard pieces from the Foil Greetings Tabs packaging. I took one of the pieces and used Washi tape to adhere it to the front of a top-fold A2 note card, I then used some VersaFine Clair Grass Green ink and a fingertip dauber to create this striped background for the poppies.

I inked up the poppies stamp with VersaFine Clair Nocturne (black) ink and stamped it at an angle on top of the stripes. Using the same ink, I stamped the Happy Birthday greeting from the BIRTHDAY GREETINGS CLEAR STAMP SET CL5292 in the lower left.

And that’s it–quick and easy! It’s also a really flat card so no extra postage is needed (whereas most of the cards I send need that extra). I can think of so many ways to change this up–stamp, color, and die cut the entire poppies image and then adhere them on top of the stripes; stamp just the stems and leaves on green card stock, cut them out and adhere them over the stamped image; or just stamp, color (or use colored card stock), and cut out the poppy blossoms and add those to the note card. This card design was a fun way to reuse some packaging that I might ordinarily put in the recycle bin for the transfer station. Do you save and reuse the packaging that comes with craft items you purchase?
