Happy Birthday Flower Child
by Jean Okimoto

Remember those “flower child” days before Gen X, Y, Z, etc. ? Here’s a birthday design for a special gardening gal from those days – or someone who just loves flowers. It’s Milo Mouse’s imaginary twin sister again – in stylish gardening attire matching the Arched Flower Basket blossoms.

Cut the new Rustic Watering Can from the teal 6×6 in the Lagoon Solid Core Cardstock Pack. Attach the top handle. Cut the second-largest Cinched Frame from watercolor paper. Attach it to a white A6 card (4.5″ x 6.25″). Attach the watering can sides, bottom and spout to the frame – leave the top unattached to add the flowers and foliage.

Cut the Arched Flower Basket blossoms and centers from light orange, bright orange and turquoise 6×6’s in the Sunrise and Lagoon Solid Core Cardstock Packs. Cut 2 more of the 5/8″ 5-petaled flower from bright orange cardstock for the accent pieces.

Cut the leaves and a center from black cardstock – it’s easier to cut the set of centers from black and have extras for future projects. Attach the leaves to the background, then assemble and attach the flowers.

Cut Milo Mouse from tan and light kraft cardstock. Color the small oval “underlay” with black and pink markers for the eye and nose cutouts. Cut the hat and smock from Sunrise 6×6’s. Assemble the mouse and outfit. Attach it, using foam tape for the right side.

Add a Happy Birthday Foil Greeting Tab. Add the 2 extra bright orange flowers. Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for visiting our blog…see you in June!
