Simple Poinsettia

Since the temps have been in the 90's the past few days, I thought I'd try to cool off with a Christmas card.  Did you ever have a project that just wouldn't cooperate — that's how this one was.  The patterned paper I chose wasn't quite right, wasn't quite happy with the coloring etc. etc.  (Thanks Woodville coffee friends for your input and suggestions.)  After the project was complete I was testing the Viva Decor pearls before adding it to the center of the petals — it splurted out in a big stream over the completed card.  I think I wiped off all of the mess.  So then there were added difficulties taking a photo — thank goodness for a patient husband.  Here's the completed project — does anyone else out there have certain projects that just don't cooperate or go as planned?

Here are the supplies:

• C1783 Christmas Ticket
• G1788 Poinsettia Bloom
• 98203 Poinsettia Bloom Die
• 98109 Scalloped Circle Die
• Distressed Dots Licorice card stock
• Key Lime Note card

Other – Inktense colored pencils, gamsol, Archival jet black ink, clear embossing powder, smooth white card stock, black card stock, ric rac

Stamp poinsettia on white card stock, color with pencils, blend with gamsol and stump, trim with die, trim around three of the petals with an xacto knife for dimension, and use stylus on back of cut petals to puff out.  Add foam tape (I used rolled up dimesional glue dots) to raise cut petals.  Cut scalloped circle and add poinsettia on top.  Stamp Christmas Ticket at bottom of note card and emboss with clear powder.  Add distressed dots patterned paper to top of note card and layer poinsettia piece on top.  When card is put together, add viva decor pearl pen dots to center (I used a yellow marker to color before the pearls and the color bled up through the white viva decor pearl paint.)  Hopefully you will prime your pearls away from your finished card to avoid a disaster.
