Celebrate
by Donna Sledzik

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! Today’s card celebrates the unofficial start of the Summer season, so I went with a patriotic color scheme.

I started by applying Antique Linen Distress Ink to my craft mat and misting it with water. Next, I took a piece of watercolor paper and dragged it through the ink. I wanted a very subtle application of ink, so one swipe was enough, and then I dried the ink with my heat tool.

Next, I glued red and blue strips of cardstock to the left side of the inked paper and spattered it with white and black ink.

I die cut the Spiral Shell from watercolor paper. I lightly sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink on the shell outline and used Chipped Sapphire, Barn Door and Antique Lined for the shell background. I spattered the shell background with plain water and dried it with a heat tool.

I glued the shell outline to the shell background and used foam tape to adhere it to the card front.

Next, I white heat embossed the word celebrate and glued it to the shell.

I used foam tape to adhere the card front to a white card base.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

  1. I love this! I always look for the way to incorporate with “ocean” elements because I live by the sea. Never did shell with our patriotic colors. Thanks for the inspiration! PS. Oh how I loooove the memory box dies!!
