Opposites attract in a pastel beach scene here. The bold Grand Scallop Shell, delicate Graceful Ocean Birds, matte cardstock from our 6×6 Collections, and sparkly Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad accent strips, soft colors and bright birds create a medley of contrasts.
Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another Under the Sea Collection design for you. Not sure if a scallop shell and these flamingo-wannabe birds belong together – but here they are!

Cut pastel-painted watercolor paper with the solid Grand Scallop Shell. I’ve used a stash scrap colored with diluted Kaleidacolor ink refills. Pressure-emboss the shell with the detailed Grand Scallop Shell die – use the rubber embossing mat and other plate(s) required for your machine. Leave the shell in the die. Use the die as a stencil and sponge VersaMark onto the open areas of the shell. Remove the die and heat-emboss the shell with Imagine’s Iridescent Mboss Powder. Clean the die with a damp washcloth.
Cut the blue sheet – from the 6×6 Fresh Aqua Collection – with the detailed scallop die. Attach the diecut to the embossed shell.
Cut white cardstock with the 3″ x 8″ Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.
Cut the pale aqua 6×6 Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad sheet with Vertical Line Collage. Attach the 5 offcut strips to the rectangle.
Cut Graceful Ocean Birds from the pink-coral 6×6 Berry Red Collection sheet. Mask the adjacent areas with a Post-It Note and color the beaks and legs with a marker. The pale gray Zebra Mildliner over the pink-coral cardstock created a dark taupe/brown.
Attach the diecuts to the rectangle – use foamtape for the top of the shell. Attach the rectangle – at an angle – to a white slimline card (3-⅝ x 8-⅝”). Add jewels from the Open Studio Pastel Jewels – I used the color in the first column.
Thanks for visiting…see you again next week!

I think all of the elements here work well together. Beautifully done!
