Nested Bundled Red Robin
by Trina Pham

Hello everyone.  I didn’t want the Bundled Bird die from the current 2023 Christmas collection to have FOMO (fear of missing out) 😂*lol*, so I took creative licence and turned him into a red robin for another bird themed Christmas card.

Except for the nest, which was die cut from Kraft cardstock, all pieces were die cut from white cardstock then ink blended with distress inks (DI).  Shading and details were added to the hat brim and pom-pom with Copic Sketch markers C00/1/3/4.
A quick side note – I wanted the bird to fit better in the nest, so he was slimmed down by placing his body piece back in the die, offsetting it and then die cutting it again.

DI used:
bird – Rusty Hinge, Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs, Black Soot
nest – Gathered Twigs, Black Soot
hat – Lumberjack Plaid, Black Soot
branch – Black Soot

The background is 5×3.75-inch mixed media paper ink smooshed with Black Soot DI in the bottom right corner.  Assembled the scene onto the panel, then painted white gouache paint onto the branch and nest for accumulated snow, and splattered diluted white gouache paint for falling snow.  May have went a little overboard with this step. 😂*lol*   Stamped the sentiment in red, inked around the edges and then adhered onto a white card base to finish.

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.
