Here's an Advent Calendar Project you can do with children–or make for them. I used white mini craft sacks, Nutmeg Plaid PP1033 papers, and White Advent Tabs ST021. In the Photo below I taped up ribbon on my front door and used mini white clothespins to attach the sacks.
1The white mini craft sacks are 2.63" X 3.88" and come in a 25 pc. package at the craft store. (No craft sacks? Use small envelopes!)
I cut some of the plaid papers from NUTMEG PLAID PP1033 to 2" X 3". I chose the green plaid ones to add to the white sacks and set the red ones aside to use later on brown craft sacks. I used a tape runner to attach the papers to the sacks but children could easily use glue sticks to do this–they LOVE glue sticks!

Next I chose the WHITE ADVENT TABS ST021 and glued one on the front of each of the papered sacks. I placed the numbered circles near the bottom edge of the paper because I wanted to leave room for a child to add stickers of his/her choice on each one. I have stickers of dinosaurs wearing Santa hats that I've set aside for my grandson to add to this set. On the 25th I added one of the MERRY CHRISTMAS FOIL BANNERS WHITE TABS ST014.

My daughter-in-law started an Advent Calendar tradition where she places a card in each sack with an activity to be completed each day. She usually has the boys come up with some suggestions for what they might like to do and she figures out which days of the week and corresponding sack numbers work the best. Some examples include: choose an item from the pantry (unopened!) to donate to the area food bank; shop for and wrap a toy for the local Toys for Tots program; make a paper chain for the Christmas tree; make an ornament for the tree; draw and color placemats for the Christmas dinner table; bake cookies, wrap some and deliver to neighbors; choose some holiday books from the library; attend a holiday play or concert; sing Christmas songs after dinner; play some holiday records and have a dance party (Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, etc.); watch a holiday movie…I think you get the idea. You can also tuck small treats in each sack. When the task is completed, add a sticker or a drawing to the card and hang it back up. Save the paper sacks to use again another year!
And that's it! Easy peasy! Happy Holiday Crafting!!!
