Greetings friends. I want to share a card today using the new Gypsy Swallowtail die. I started the card by making my own sky using a cloud stencil from Rosie’s Roadshow:

I used a stencil, but I have also cut my own template in the past by simply cutting some random scallop shapes. To make the sky, I placed my stencil at the top of the page and sponged on some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink onto whited cardstock. I then moved my stencil down and slightly to the left and repeated the process. I continued to move the stencil over and over until I reached the bottom of the paper. I was left with this:

I then placed my Heritage Rectangle Frame on top of the sky and cut out the section I liked best. I then moved on to the bird.
Once of the best things about diecutting is that you can use up some background paper that you didn’t like very much. I made this paper by sprinkling some watercolor powders onto a non-stick mat, spritzing it with water and then dragging some watercolor paper through the inky puddles. I was left with this:

Not bad, but not my favorite. I pulled it out of my stash today and placed my dies on the sections of the paper I liked and then cut out the pieces. In the close up, you can see that some of my watercolor powders were metallic and left me with some shiny parts to the paper:

To finish the card, I added a red heart to the beak and added my sentiment. Thanks so much for stopping by today!
