Greetings friends. It feels surreal that I was posting a Halloween card on Saturday and am posting a Christmas card for Monday. Holidays really run together, don’t they?
For today’s card, I was inspired to try a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch looks like this:

Sorry my copy of the sketch is quite blurry. I tend to work with a lot of rectangles, so I thought it was a good idea to use a completely different layout. To start the card, I used paper from the Yuletide Cheer 6″ x 6″ paper back and added a metallic gold strip of paper to be my diagonal. I added some leaves to the diagonal, so it is a bit hard to see the metallic paper.
For my pine cones, I used light brown paper for the solid base and dark brown paper for the intricate overlay. I also edged the pieces with some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink..
For the leaves, I cut them out of green paper and edged them with Peeled Paint and Pine Needles Distress Inks. I cut the berries out of red paper and added a dot of white gel pen for the highlights and some dark burgundy Copic marker to the base of each berry to add a shadow. Here is a close up:

I wanted to try out the new Liquid Tinsel I just bought, so I rubbed it onto the pine cones using my finger. I’m not sure that was the best way to apply it because it was really hard to get off of my finger. In any case, it added a lot of sparkle, and the glitter isn’t falling off of the card.
Thanks for stopping by today!
