It’s Your Birthday, Girl!
by Anne Thompson

I needed a birthday card for a little girl so I chose to combine three colorful balloons and a pile of gifts resting against the Pinpoint Flower Plate background.

These are the materials I used: BLUSH CARD STOCK SP1012; PINPOINT FLOWER PLATE 94852; GIFTS GALORE 94953; WAVY BALLOONS 94952; and WHITE GREETINGS TAGS ST038 HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

To make this card I first used the Pinpoint Flower Plate on a pinkish piece of card stock from the Blush Collection. I mounted this on the front of a top-fold white note card.

I die cut Gifts Galore and the solid balloons from Wavy Balloons using white card stock. I used Crayola markers to color the die cuts (because I had them out on my work table for a project I’ll do with children at the library this week). I assembled the packages with their ribbons and glued them in a pile to the front of the note card. I chose some perle cotton thread to tie onto the balloons for strings. I added a HAPPY BIRTHDAY Greetings Tag to the string on the purple balloon. I adhered the balloons to the note card using dimensional foam dots. I gathered the strings together and tied them with another piece of the perle cotton thread. I added a glue dot to secure them in place and glued on an extra die cut bow.

I think she’ll like this bright cheerful card. I can think of so many ways to remake this card–changing up the number of balloons and adding some wavy ones, piling on more gifts, using different marker colors or a different medium for coloring everything, auditioning different background panels…you get the idea. One can never have too many birthday cards ready to send out!
