Congrats – It’s Time to Celebrate
by Jean Okimoto

Celebrate a promotion, team victory, college acceptance, new home – or special achievement – with the Marching Penguin and a bouquet of bright Wavy Balloons.
Strings are white crochet thread – continuing my stitching phase – or current design obsession!

Prep the 3″ x 4.3″ Notched Eyelet Frame by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the tiny offcuts. Diecut a light yellow Sunrise Solid Core Cardstock 6×6. Securely tape white crochet thread on the reverse side and sew 7 angled, overlapping stitches. Attach it to a white A6 card (4.5″ x 6.25″).

Cut the small Wavy Balloons from the Lagoon, Blush and Greenery Solid Core Cardstock Packs – 4 turquoise, 2 dark coral and 3 lime green. These great balloons can be plain, or have wavy diecut layers. They can also be pressure-embossed for texture and dimension. Use the different wavy dies for artsy layers and dimension.

Spritz one of the dark coral balloons with a light mist of water and pressure-emboss it with the wavy die – use the tan rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine. Emboss one of the turquoise balloons too. I’ve used different wavy dies (including the large wavy balloon) for different patterns.

Cut the remaining turquoise and lime green with the small wavy die. Attach the wave diecuts to the solid balloons.

Attach the balloons to the background – use foam tape for the tops of the highest coral and lime green balloons and all of the remaining balloons.

Cut Marching Penguin from Glossy Black Paper (cardstock) and textured white cardstock. Cut the beak layer and feet from an orange Sunrise Solid Core Cardstock 6×6. Color the eye areas with a black marker. Assemble the penguin and attach it with foam tape.

Attach a Congratulations Foil Greetings Black Tab – use foam tape on the right edge. Add 1/4″ punched dots of the dark teal Festive Glitter Pad 6×6. Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for visiting our blog – have a great weekend. See you in April!
