Alcohol Ink Backgrounds
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Another post from me this weekend. Today I want to share the technique I used to make the background for my card.

I started with Yupo paper, which is a synthetic paper that works well with alcohol inks. There are other alcohol ink papers on the market that would also work well. It is a slick paper that allows that alcohol ink to move along the surface.

I took my paper and added a few dots of alcohol inks on top:

My inks are by Adirondack, which is now carried by Ranger. You could also use other brands of alcohol inks including Copic marker refills.

Next, I added some alcohol blending solution on top to help the colors blend a little easier:

You could also use regular Isopropyl alcohol for this step.

Finally, I took an airbrush and blasted the colors across the paper. I have also seen people use drinking straws to blow the inks across the paper:

I trimmed my backgrounds to keep the best parts for cards. Here is a close up of the background I chose for my card:

To finish the card, I added dies cut out of white paper. I added a bit of yellow to the center of the flower, but for the most part, I wanted the background to be dynamic and the dies simple.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
