A couple of weekends ago I took a cyanotype printing class with Madge Evers, a cyanotype artist from western Massachusetts. Rather than using plant materials I decided to use Memory Box dies and die cuts to layer on the prepared watercolor paper instead just to see what would happen.
This print was one of my first attempts. I love the results! For today’s card I decided to use this as the underlayer beneath some white paint-splattered trees (the August blog challenge) and I used the same EVERGREEN TREE STAND 94969 die for both.
Here are the paint-splattered trees–I used thinned acrylic white paint and a wide brush. Once it dried I removed the die cuts and added them to the note card using tiny dimensional foam dots at the bases of the trees.
I work a lot in paper collage (this feels like the beginning of a piece I’ll need to add more to) and have been experimenting with fabric collage as well. Now I want to try combining gel plate printing with Memory Box die cuts and fabric to see what happens. I’ll let you know how that goes in a future post.
