Send special birthday wishes with this bright and cheery card. There are no tricky techniques here–just lots of pretty dimensional flowers and colorful gemstones—and don't we all want flowers and sparkly things for our birthday? I like the contrast of the earthy kraft notecard with the light and bright flowers–not to mention the sparkly gemstones. I guess opposites do attract
I love the Happy Birthday Extravaganza word die cut! It curves and dips high and low like the happy birthday song—it's what I call "happy wording". There's a sense of celebration in it and it's a "must" for everyone's collection.
To make the flowers, die cut the Adorable Posies in several Spring-y card stock colors. I love the Memory Box Signature Patterns as well as the solid colored papers. I used a stylus tool to press the flower centers into a cushioned surface (mouse pad) to curl the flower petals forward, then layered smaller center pieces and added a pretty gemstone to each one. I got a little carried away assembling the flowers and now have enough for several cards.
After the flowers were in place I added Luscious Leaves cut from dark and light greens.
Lastly, the gemstones. I wanted them to look like a handful of sparklers were dropped onto the card. No special pattern, just bright droplets scattered amongst the flowers.
I'll be sending one of these to a friend on the east coast for her birthday–hope it reminds her that Spring WILL come sometime soon–she's tired of the snow and ice–anyone agree with that?
Happy Friday!
