Dashing Through the Snow
by Donna Sledzik

Hello everyone!

I hope you are enjoying this week's blog blitz featuring The 2015 Winter Release.  There are so many wonderful dies and stamps in this release!

For my card today, I chose to use two new dies, the Large Winter Sled and Curved Dashing. I combined these with the Dancing Snowflake Frame from a previous release.

Creating the card:

  • Die cut the Winter Sled once from kraft cardstock and once from white cardstock.
  • Using a wood grain embossing folder, emboss the kraft sled die cut. Sponge over the embossed sled using Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  Cut the wood slates from the sled and save them to be used later.
  • On the white die cut sled, color the red part with a Versa Ink Pen. Sprinkle with red embossing powder and heat set.  Ink the remaining portion of the sled with the Versa Ink Pen and emboss with silver embossing powder.
  • Adhere the cut slates onto the silver embossed sled.
  • Die cut the Dancing Snowflake Frame from white cardstock and sponge Antique Linen Distress Ink on the edges of the frame.
  • The Curved Dashing was die cut from Cranberry cardstock.
  • I used a piece of sheet music for my card background.  In the center of the paper I applied Gesso to tone down the background so it didn't look to busy.
  • To assemble the card, adhere the music background to a kraft cardstock layer.  Glue this to a note card. Using pop dots glue the frame to the music background.  Adhere the sled to the middle of the card background.  Spatter with white ink.  Embellish the sled with greens and a bell.  Glue the die cut saying to the card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card!

Would you like to win the Large Winter Sled? Leave a comment on this blog post by Sunday, October 11(11:59 pm EST) for your chance to win.  A winner will be selected at random from the comments to win the die.  Good luck!
