There's a lot happening today – Laura announced the winners of our May Challenge and the details of our June Challenge. Sherry posted another beautiful card…and I got a bit carried away with the cool, contemporary Bumblebee Daydreams Die and Stamp Sets. I think I stamped and diecut enough flowers for another card later this month.
Paint the smoother side of watercolor paper with pink, peach, orange and yellow Peerless Watercolors and dry it with a heat-tool. Stamp the flowers with VersaFine Onyx Black and emboss them with detail clear powder. Stamp and emboss the little bee on yellow cardstock too. Stamp and emboss the honeycomb on white cardstock. Diecut the pieces.
Color the interior of the bee's wings with a white pencil. Use a glue pen to fill the area and cover it with pearlescent white glitter. Don't tap the excess glitter off yet – leave the whole pile of it there and let the glue dry. My glued glitter theory? Some of the glitter sinks into the glue, then some of the excess fills the gap.
Attach Scor-Tape to green vellum. Stamp the leaves with Brilliance Graphite Black - dry it, then diecut them. I wanted the flowers to take center-stage, and pop against the subtle vellum leaves.
Stamp the greeting onto a side-folded A-2 card of lightly-textured white cardstock. Attach the honeycomb, leaves and flowers – the bottom pink flower is attached with foam dots. Wondering why I didn't just stamp the honeycomb onto the card? Not sure where I'd place it, so I wanted it to be on a separate piece so I could move it around until it found a home. I also wanted the smooth cardstock to contrast the texture of the card.
Attach the bee with foamdots. Add green, pink and orange sequins.
