Blooming Poppy

Good Tuesday Everyone!

I’m happy you stopped by today as I share a pretty poppy and butterfly card.  If you have been in one of my classes in Southern California lately you made this card already but it seemed to be a favorite so here goes…

Starting off…use Peeled Paint, Moss green, Squeezed Lemon and Orange Marmalade distress inks to water color the appropriate areas on the poppies.  Just swipe the inks directly onto a craft mat or other waterproof surface and add small amounts of water to get the desired color intensity and paint onto the Poppy die cut.  Leave the butterfly blank for now.  Let the watercoloring dry throughly and snip the flowers apart at the base allowing 3 blooms on each portion.  

Adhere the scalloped ring, created by die cutting a scalloped circle die with a smaller basic circle die inside, to the card front.  Be sure to save the blue circle die cut from the opening to use inside the card. 

Using Salty Ocean distress ink, stamp the sentiment on the card front.

From the inside, position the painted poppies in the circle opening, allowing a bud on either side to overlap the scalloped ring. Secure the lower portion of the poppies inside the card using adhesive (I used scotch tape).  

To hide the taped poppies on the inside adhere the pale yellow panel and gives the front of the card a pretty yellow backgrond behind the poppies.  

For the blue glitter butterfly overlay, position a small piece of glitter paper over the butterfly, glitter side down on the cut side of the die and run through your die cut machine.   Adhere into position using small dabs of wet glue in several areas.  

 For the inside, adhere the retained blue circle to the card then add the remaining poppies (cut the stems shorter if needed to fit the area).
