Fun Fish Tales
by Jenny Griffiths

Hello and welcome to another fun day on the blog as we spotlight several brand new designs from the May 2017 release…it’s another great one.

My favorite is the Fish Tales clear stamp set.  I designed two cards today, the first using distress inks to watercolor the scene and the second card using Tombow markers.

After stamping the fish onto watercolor paper using black archival ink, I watered down several distress ink swatches applied to my craft sheet and painted the fish a variety of whimsical colors.  I used Mermaid Lagoon (background), picked raspberry, ripe persimmon, mustard seed, carved pumpkin, shaded violet, cracked pistachio and peeled paint distress inks on the lively fish!  The set includes two types of sea grass stamps which were used on the background—this stamp set has it all!

Once the watercolor paper dried completely, I die cut the stitched oval, using the largest size in the set, and mounted it onto the green notecard, then added the embossed sentiment for a so-fish-ticated card!

Next up, same clear set but this time creating faux postage on the front and inside of the card…

I colored the fish and sea grass with Tombow water based markers and die cut them using the Postage Rectangle Layers dies.  To give each rectangle a hint of blue background, I left the paper in the die and sponged ink onto the paper allowing the rectangle frame to protect the edges from ink…

I added a double layer of mounting tape under the sentiment rectangle and overlapped it onto the other two pieces.   Clear dew drop embellishments add the look of bubbles–so fun!

Here is a look at the inside of the card using one more cute postage fish and a second birthday sentiment.  I love finishing the inside of cards with coordinating stamps or dies.

Since this week is our new release reveal celebration…how about a chance to win the featured clear stamp set—Fish Tales!

Let us know what you think of this set—do you like that there are sentiments and design images combined on one set?  (I do!)

Do you like whimsical  looking fish?  How about that sea grass?  Holy Mackerel, YES!

Leave a comment to this post by Sunday, May 14th at 11:59pm EST.  One comment will be chosen at random to win the stamp set.  Don’t forget to check back during the week.  Each designer post will have its own chance of winning a prize.  Good luck!
