Transform Elegant Shorebirds into glittery faux-flamingos on a quick summer card for a great grad or someone on your awesome list. These beautiful multi-taskers are great cranes for an Asian card too!
Hi, Jean Okimoto here, still playing with my Distress Oxides. I have 10 of them – but these four colors create the perfect combination for our Spring and May Releases. They are Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick. I used a scrap of watercolor paper to blot some of the darker areas on a larger piece of spritzed, smushed inks and ended up with this dreamy background.
Cut the watercolored paper with the 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ Rectangle Basics die. Stamp the greeting – from the Open Studio Spring Lilacs Clear Stamp Set – with Imagine Crafts Deep Lagoon VersaFine.
Cut Pasture Grass from green cardstock and trim the edges a bit. Cut a 1/2″ base using the curved die included in the Pasture Grass set. The curved border works alone too. It’s great for rolling hills, shorelines, curving country roads and snowdrifts – or when you just want a simple, wonky curved edge.
Cut the birds from pink glittered cardstock.
Attach the diecuts to a top-folded 5-1/2″ square white card – use a foam dot for the wings of the left bird. Add pink and green gem stickers. Yes – five gem stickers in two colors – she’s living on the edge here!

Love ideas outside the box and flamingos seem to be everywhere lately so this is a great idea. I too am loving playing with my oxide inks and can happily waste an hour or too smooshing and splatting and splashing to get different effects and these 4 colours do work so well together. Love the card and thanks for sharing.
