Embossing With Dies

Greetings friends.  Today I want to talk about using dies to frame your images rather than using them to cut paper.  It is nice to get more as much use out of your dies as possible.

My first step was to stamp my bunny with black Memento ink and then colored him with Prismacolor pencils:

Next, I taped my rectangle die around the bunny using repositionable tape.  The important next step is to place a rubber mat underneath your paper so that the die cuts into the rubber mat instead of the plastic plate of your die cutting machine.  The rubber mat allows the die to dent the paper rather than cut it.  I don't think the mat I have is sold anymore, but I know that Provo Crafts ans Sizzix both math rubber embossing mats.  I have heard about some people using mouse pads, but you need to find a mouse pad that is the correct thickness.  Some are to big to fit in your die cutting machine.  NEVER force something through your machine.

I have a Sizzix Big Shot, and this is the "sandwich" I used to run my paper through the machine:

When you run it through the machine, you get an imprinted frame around your image:

To finish the card, I added some white chalk under the bunny and glued a few sequins to the card.
