Santa’s Sleigh
by Trina Pham

Happy Fri-YAY everyone!  It’s crunch time as Christmas is fast approaching!   So today, I’m sharing another easy Christmas card featuring the Gilded Sleigh die from the 2021 Holiday collection.

The sleigh was die cut out of leftover red paper from the Berry Red paper pack.  The trim and runners were each die cut from Bristol paper twice.   Put the sleigh together with just one of the trim and runner pieces, then added shading to the sleigh with red Copic markers.   The other trim and runner were then stacked on top to cover up any markings that may have gotten on the first pieces.   And it gave lovely dimension, too.

The gifts and candy canes were created using the Gingerbread House Frame die.  The candy canes were die cut from white Copic-friendly cardstock.  On the solid cut-out, red lines were hand drawn in using a red Copic marker.   The gifts were trimmed to size with a paper trimmer and on the white ones, a ruler and Copic markers were used to draw in those stripes.   The “ribbons” on the gifts were made by die cutting the door and window, then cutting away the unwanted parts with scissors.   Each Bennet Alphabet letter was then die cut twice from Bristol paper and once out of white glitter paper from the Festive Glitter pad, then stacked (with the glittery letter on top) for dimension.

The dark gray background panel was die cut with the Pinpoint Snowflake Plate and Black Soot distress ink applied to the bottom with a blender brush.   Adhered the sleigh ensemble to the bottom before splattering with diluted white gouache paint and adding full strength white gouache paint to the ground and bottom of the sleigh for snow.  Mount the panel onto a white card base, then added the “ho” letters to finish.

Once again, my card was inspired by this month’s Snow challenge.   Hope to see you play along.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful weekend!
