Trio of Sweet Magnolias by Jean Okimoto

Tip #2 – mask the adjacent areas with Post-its and color the petals, leaves and base with a blending brush, Pearlescent Coral and Pearlescent Lime Brilliance inks.  (Save the leaves for another project.)  Color the cone-shaped centers with a cotton swab and Cosmic Copper Brilliance. My Brilliance inkpads might be older than you are – but they’re still great for blending, shading and stenciling!

Tip #3 – Dry the inks and cut the designs – leave the diecuts in the die to keep them organized by individual blossoms.  Assemble the magnolias.

Cut 2 of the 3-½” wide Nested Globe.  Trim the bottom corners with a corner rounding punch.  Cut the Magnolia Rub-On Transfer branch (and its paper liner) from the transfer sheet – leave extra space around it.

Tip #4 -Carefully remove the liner, then place the transfer on the globe diecut.   Place the globe between 2 layers of printer paper and run it thru a diecut machine using the plates you’d use for diecutting.  The rub-on transfer kits include a craft stick to burnish the design, but running it thru the machine instead produces great results too!

The numbered tips I’ve shared aren’t rocket-science – but I hope they’re helpful.

Layer the extra globe for dimension.  Attach everything to a top-folded white A2 card.  Add pale pink Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A2-sized layer of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Hope we’ve inspired you to include magnolias – and the Backyard Wren – in your designs.

Thanks for visiting…see  you on Friday!
