Greetings friends. Today I wanted to share a card I made using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. I like the Real Brush markers because they allow you to color directly onto watercolor paper or along with a paintbrush/water or a waterbrush. You can also use lighter colors on top of darker colors without ruining the marker nibs.
For my card, I started with a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of white cardstock and ran it though my die cut machine using the Blooming 3D embossing folder. I then cut out the center part of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of white cardstock using the second largest die from the Fringed Scalloped Frame set:

Once I cut out the center of the one piece of cardstock, I was left with a frame to glue on top of my embossed cardstock piece.
Next came the coloring.
I stamped my butterfly onto 140lb watercolor paper using black Versafine ink and gave it plenty of time to dry. Next, I colored each section of the butterfly using the markers:

To color each section, I added a bit of marker the outer edges of each section. Here you can see I added some orange maker. Next, I softened the color using a waterbrush to blend the color away from the edges The goal was to get a gradient of color:

If you aren’t getting a gradient of color, wipe of extra paint on your paintbrush before doing more blending. Also, you want to make sure each section dries before you work on the section next to it. Otherwise, the colors will all bleed together. Here is a close up of the butterfly:

To finish the card, I cut out some leaves using Key Lime cardtock and shaded the edges of the leaves with some Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
